I have an aluminum millennium stand that is probably 10-13years old. The seat has been eaten on by mice and I just don’t use it anymore. It is one that takes a receiver on the tree. Anyway, thinking about trying to remove the seat and maybe shorten upright and cut down over all size of platform. It’s a well built stand
Anybody tried this yet?

That may be a little hard to do with that stand design. The problem I see is the double post design. Will be really hard to create a stopping point for the post unless you decided to keep the cables on it and I think it will be very heavy when finished. With that being said though if your just going to throw it away, Id give it a try. You never know what your gonna come up with until you start cutting and grinding lol.

So I tried it...
Here is the unfinished product

8.5lbs total bundle
My plan is to take one more rung off platform and use Amsteel rope spliced. The rope actually gives me a little more sense of security and allows me to know where edge is without looking down. Platform seems very solid on tree, even with side pressure. I’ve got a little more test to do, but I think this will be my all day sit method.

What do you guys think??

Looks good Id try to figure out away to get rid of the ropes going to the bottom .
on a side note,
Id love to have the seat if your getting rid of it.

Sorry, but the seat has been all but destroyed.

U can do eye-bolts off the sides and give your self a little more room but still have the rope for an edge guide

Use an amsteel whoopie sling and u have adjustability to level the platform

Good idea! I have three Millenniums I gotta look at. I was thinking of putting them on Craig’s list.

It’s not that bad as far as weight or carrying. It folds down nicely and I think will end up at right at 8lbs with buckle and strap. I think it will hook to my back pack and be a good starter platform.
I got the stand as a gift along time ago. So, not counting it, I will have about $10 and about an hour of time.

Won't hurt to use it so you can discover what you want in your next platform.
