Mississippi saddle hunters

I am supposed to be receiving my first saddle tomorrow along with a ROS. I have gotten a set of Hawk Helium minis and about have the stacking buttons where they don't stick. Had picked up washers and spacers for versa button replacement but they are to small for original bolt to fit so I either have to go up a size on washer and spacer or get new bolt. I am near Pontotoc. Going to saddle hunting to get lighter and more mobile because carrying a 20 lb climber at almost 52 years old is not fun.

Well, if it makes you feel better, I changed for the same reason. At 70, that climber is just too much of a pain. Also, the wide range of trees with cover you can get in is a huge plus.

Yes. I am about to start hunting some public land in the delta and the weight will be great for long walks in. I managed a lodge on Mississippi river for while and after a few years of dealing with these hill deer again I am ready to go back where bigger ones that are more consistent with a pattern are.

I'll be in Mississippi next year as a Navy Chaplain. I'll be part of NMCB-11 based in Gulfport. I hope to find opportunities to hunt while I'm there (probably a couple years).

Lots of public land in southeast part of the state, both federal and state land. It is some really gnarly thick stuff there.

I’m here. South central part of the state. 2nd year swinging. Still learning, adjusting, swapping for what’s gonna work best for me.

Meridian here. First season in saddle, just getting my system completed. Tested it this morning and couldn’t believe how quickly I was able to get up and down the tree! Looking forward to hunting out of it over the next couple of days!

I am from Louisiana but hunt in the Port Gibson area. Been good to use and am looking forward to some all day rut sits. I have the JX3 with ROS and some modified Lone Wolf sticks.

I have a Trophyline and ROS somewhere in USPS world "in transit" that were supposed to have arrived yesterday. I have Hawk Helium minis that I modified versa buttons because I didn't like their plastics after having a suction cup break before I got them trimmed enough not to stick together. I have some Oplux for tether and lineman's belt but it and Tethrd versa straps are "in transit" too. USPS is a joke!

Pontotoc! That's getting way too close to me. Im in monroe county. Lol. Just joking

When does the rut happen in Mississippi? It peaks about November 11 here in SW Ohio.
In NE Ms its usually around 1st of January.
There is usually a big long lull period between mid October and January the 1st

In South Mississippi where you will be stationed Pastor Ken it will be toward end of January or early February. They have extended season in some counties into February because it is so late. But don't expect that intense crazy few day flurry you see in Ohio. It gets stretched over long time frame here.

I really appreciate that info! I bought a lifetime hunting license for Ohio. Maybe I can be back to hunt November in Ohio. If not, maybe I can hunt February in Mississippi.

There are some really good wildlife management areas that have draw hunts that limits pressure on them. The better ones are more along western part of the state
