Mock Up of a Draft of a Copy of The Ken Sling... sort of

Biggest pressure point I find on the sit drag while sitting is the lower strap. I think if the bottom strap was longer, looser it would help in sitting comfort. I'd really like to do away with all straps and just make a hammock. They have some stretch and pressure is spread evenly unlike with straps.

In the interest of advancing concepts, I wont give any input to redirect your ideas. I evny you guys who have sewing machines, or take the time to do this via sewing awl.
I used paper. :(

I envy them too with all that sewing. But hey your paper trick worked too hence why you now have a waiting list lol.

Maustypsu if you get to a final product and it works I would be interested in commissioning you for a copy. Let me know and so far this is looking great but man what a process of engineering and design.

I'm watching all of this closely because I'm looking for a lighter version of a saddle for elk hunting. We average 6-10 miles a day hiking, ounces mean everything. I'm a sitter to, leaner part time.We sometimes spend 10 to 12 hours in a saddle at wallows, ponds, etc. Also hunt all day for whitetails in the Midwest so comfort is a major issue. We all know it takes a higher level of fitness to hunt out of any saddle type apparatus that's what keeps us young and appealing to our better halves.

Here are some pics. Football and World Series have stolen my little "free time". This is how I am stiffening and keeping the belts apart.

Looks good. Now since this is load bearing what thread are you using?

This specific one won't go to height as it is. But good enough for ground testing the concept.

I am using upholstery thread. I could get away with the Outdoor thread for it. However, I am making it stiff. So I wanted the heaviest thread I could stitch in there. You cannot bend any of the stitched webbing easily.

I'm going to add mesh material that will be slightly tight. Then whenever I sit in it and it stretches, I believe this will all cup my butt.

That will be the hard part - trying to get that measurement right. I plan to do it in a sloppy way by starting loose and then just pull it a bit tighter and stitch again. Just to find the sweet spot. Then I can take measurements for a final build.
