New to whole deal started deer hunting 4 years ago and been an exercise in futility with no mentor or background. Of course I had to get a ladder stand cause that's what you do right? Went from there to a climber, cause it's more mobile right? Long story short is the only deer I saw were walking back to the truck. Started doing some YouTube research found a couple "mentors" and saw this saddle concept. Being military I knew the G2 is never wrong so ordered a SD and some sticks and went to work. Practiced in the yard and decided to sell all my stands....luckily someone wanted them all. Still learning and haven't scored yet but already seeing deer on purpose instead of accident. Swapped out my SD for a DIY kestrel clone, got some steps and the old dog learning new tricks. Great site!

Welcome! We have lots of new hunters on this site so you're not alone. Feel free to ask any questions, there is no stupid question. There are a lot of experienced guys who can help you out on here.

Welcome. I'm also in MO (just north of KC) and also military. I've been hunting out of a saddle for about 5 years and everything I've learned has been on this website (also Hunting Beast, Hunting Public, and John Eberhart). I'm hunting out of a Mantis but I've been messing around with stepp ladders, knaider/swaider, aiders, and climbing spikes. I'm hunting public land almost exclusively.
Let me know if you're ever around Platte City or Fort Leavenworth.

Welcome from a newbie to this site and saddle hunting. Lots of great ideas from knowledgeable, experienced hunters on here.
