Does anyone hunt with these things? I got burned last season on a trip where I got attacked by eyeball seeking gnats. It was so bad we left a couple days early. The thing is I’m sure the deer felt that pressure too and were moving.

Does anybody successfully use head or face netting to keep bugs at bay? Bonus if you have a product that you can recommend.

Before I got a thermacell I used headnets but I had to be sure it wouldn’t get in the way when it came time to shoot my bow. They worked decent but I didn’t like having one more thing to remember at the moment of truth

I keep 1 in my vest. 9 times outta 10 thermacell will be sufficient but there are biting insects the thermacell doesn't affect. Keep ur eye out on sportsman's guide and u can find them cheap. That is 1 of those luxury items I take on ever hunt and hardly ever use it.... But man o man are u happy u have it when u need it.

3 pack for 12 bucks....... https://www.sportsmansguide.com/pro...rplus-mosquito-head-nets-3-pack-new?a=2208274

Yes definitely end up using one late turkey season and early deer season. My only complaint is it makes it hard to see clearly through my binos especially at low light. But still worth it. And they weigh like half an ounce so no sweat for the mobile hunter.

I use bug tamers and thermocell. Rarely get bit. Skeeters, ticks and red bugs.

Vanilla extract works decently for gnats most of the time and smells pretty close to acorns. Fortunately we dont normally have gnat problems during deer season, more a spring thing around here.

If you don't care about scent, Ben's 100 works good, and a little goes a long way. Its like 98.99% DEET. I've had one small orange bottle for decades. One drop on the brim of my hat, one drop on each side, one drop on the back, a drop on each cuff of my sleeves and pants, one drop around my collar. Helps keep those annoying black flies that get caught in your eyes at bay too. I can't tell you how many of those things I've eaten or scraped out of my eyeballs.
