Looking for info on public hunting areas. Any saddle hunters local to Fayetteville or Bentonville?

I know there is a few in central and NE Arkansas (Im one of them in NEA). Im not much help on public land in that part of the state, but welcome to Arkansas! Woopig

It's beautiful over there, but I don't know about the hunting. I'm from NEA, as well.

@NTman There's Hobbs State Park just outside of Rogers. It's a good place to bow hunt, you have to draw a permit for gun or muzzle loader. There is 100's of thousands public land to the southeast of Fayetteville. I'm from Harrison takes me about an hour and a half to get to Fayetteville. Here's a link to the agfc public land map.

You will want to click on the AGFC interactive map link. All the info you're looking for there.

There's a ton of public land out here. I just moved about an hour south of there last year. Just prepare for ticks and chiggers. There is a long bow season, Late Sep- end of February. If you get in on one of the urban bowhunts then you can start September 1st and they are all bonus deer.

Also a ton of Army corps land around the lakes. Usually first 100 feet from water are public land.

Thanks for all the info guys. I’ve got some research to do. The season starts the last week of this month

The map info gave me a clear picture of public ground in the area.

Pretty part of the state ...I'm in NEA but there is a lot of wild country up that way...

Check out the Arkansas bowhunters association website. There’s some good info on there. Eureka Springs used to do an urban hunt but I’m not sure if they still do. That would be the closest urban hunt for you.

I live in Lowell (Springdale/Rogers) and only hunt public land. 75% of the time at Wedington WMA.

It's bow only which keeps the number of hunters down compared to other WMA's. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I live south of NWA about 40 miles if you do your scouting White Rock WMA has some great hunting

I will

I live in Fayetteville. I haven’t hunted as much public land the last two years because I got some access to private.

There is a little known WMA called Garrett Hollow I hunted exclusively. Not sure the acreage but hardly anyone hunts there. It is bow only the entire season. There are a couple of places there I never made it to.

There is also a WMA called McIlroy that I never made it to. Huge acreage and Game and Fish manages some food plots there. I want to get out there sometime.

Shoot me a PM if you like and we could get together sometime for a beverage and talk about it.

Welcome to the area.
