Hey guys and gals… my 2024 Adirondack buck video is going to drop tonight on Youtube at 7PM…for anyone interested here is the link, once again I had blast making this video with Jeff and feel blessed to still be roaming around in the big woods all season, I have no idea how many more times or years I can keep this up, but one thing is for sure, I will never stop trying!!! Thanks for watching! Jon

Great job man! I hope to make my first trip to the Adirondacks next year from Minnesota. Loved the story in the other thread.
Thank you! I hope you have a great trip next year, just don’t come during black fly season and I’m sure you will love it!

I saved your video for the post season to help with the annual withdrawal.

What a great video of a great buck. I particularly appreciate that it’s short and sweet.

I’m in love with your boat. Did you build that yourself?

Thanks I appreciate it!!! I sat down one night in my recliner after killing that buck and starting editing the video, with no intentions of releasing it until next season… and a couple hours later I said you know what, I’ll keep it short and sweet this year and let it go now, why not, so that’s that. My only gripe with super short videos like that, it gives the illusion of it being super easy, it’s hard for me to type out what I mean, but I think you get it, nothing could be further from the truth with killing a deer like that in the Adirondacks, you’ve hunted there so I know you get it. Just once I would like to make a long video showing the preseason work that goes into finding, hunting, and killing a buck like that in what I consider one of the most difficult places in the country to kill anything let alone a 150 class animal, it defies logic to go into an area with almost zero deer, poor feed, harsh winters, very little motorized access, on public land, and search for what amounts to probably… an animal that has even less than a 1% chance of existing, but then killing it, and getting it all on film by myself, I’ve had it happen a few times now.. but I’m also humble enough to know it may never happen again.. so yea.. I like the short videos too, but as I realize getting older is something that I can’t control and is not on my side, a long video may happen sooner than later, or never, we’ll see what happens!! The big boat in that video is my 15’ kevlar Adirondack Guide Boat, it’s an absolute beast, something I had wanted a long time and finally a few years ago I said screw it and called up the guys in the link below and ordered a new one, I have zero regrets, for how I hunt nothing made is better! https://adirondack-guide-boat.com/

A longer and more detailed edit of the story for those of us who like the details would be awesome!

There has been an explosion over the last few years of people releasing tracking and other hunting content. There are a lot of ridiculously long videos out there that have minimal useful substance - particularly from hunters who don’t really have anything to teach. Folks like you and Jeff Doyle are definitely people who have knowledge and experience that can benefit the rest of us. So absolutely, make a longer edit!

Paddling out with a buck in the bow is definitely on my list of things to do.

This mite be an understatement, I cannot believe how big woods/tracking content has taken off, when I started there was basically a handful of books to own and read, I have no idea if it will simmer down soon or grow more. We’ll see what happens this coming season, maybe I will try to make a longer video next time, assuming I get something worthy enough to share, to me the long hunt, chase, is the whole story, which usually starts around mid summer and ends whenever that magic moment you hopefully get to pull the trigger is, trying to cram all that in a short video is about impossible, it’s a shame because die hards like ourselves like that sort of thing, thanks for all the kind words though I appreciate it! I’ve brought 3 out by boat with the head hanging out over the bow, it never gets old, this was the first time I tried to video it, I spent the whole day getting that buck out the day after I killed him, I took my time and enjoyed every second knowing my season was over and would have to wait until next year for it to start again, the chase for another one, I won’t lie though, when I finally got back to my truck, the seat felt real good that night on the way home!

Great stuff @Topdog!!! I’ve been to the ADK and to get a ringer of a buck like that anywhere is a super achievement…. to get it in the ADK is next level. I’m talking orders of magnitude next level. This buck and the one two years ago….. just amazing work. Congrats again. Keep up your filming and videos. Jeff’s stuff is great I enjoy Isaac Young’s stuff too.

Thank you so much that means a lot to me!!! We’re absolutely buried in snow up here right now, I got one day of scouting in a week or so ago and planned on doing a bunch more then that storm hit and no joke we probably still have over 5’ in spots around here, you know what that’s like!!!!
