Pretty much the same as what G2Outdoors has done with his but with normal bashlin aluminum gaffs with leather pads.

Nicely done. I have some Bashlin spurs as well I am gonna be modding. Quick question for ya: do you have the pole or tree gaffs on yours? They look like mine and they were sold to me as pole gaffs. I made one climb so far with them on a tree with no issues. I would like to have tree gaffs, but I am thinking I may already have them and maybe the guy was just misinformed? Or I may just not need to worry about it? Your opinion is valued since you have the same spurs as me. Thanks!

I modded some Bashlin aluminum spurs. They had pole gaffs but I ordered some tree gaffs.....they are much better, getcha some!
I climbed for a bit too with the pole gaffs, they work but for what we do get the tree gaffs!

Sorry for the late replies guys, but yea mine are pole gaffs. I have tried both and prefer the smaller pole gaffs... probably because I learned with them. I believe the tree gaffs are better for tree because of the bark, the more angled longer spikes will keep you from gaffing out of different kinds of wood and thicker barks. For me the tree ones also put more pressure on my legs and feet because of their length and angle. The pole spikes are angled down a littler more and are made for softer pine and can and will "gaff out" or the spike will slip down and out of the wood if you dont hold your feet far enough at an angle. I'm used to the pole gaffs and that's what i'll always use, but for someone new into climbing with them I would get the tree spikes.
