What's going on fellow saddle hunters and Diyer's ? I have decided to revamp my DIY One stick. A while back @Weldabeast pointed out my God awful welds, which I admit I am no welder. However he is so I decided to to take his advice and remove those welds as much as I can. So since I can't weld I had to cut the stick and figure out a way to put it back together. What I decided to do was, since the stick is 1 inch square tubing I found a small piece of tubing that fit inside the main part of the stick to reinforce it. I just installed 2 small bolts to hold it together. I know it's still not what most would do but I believe it will hold up better than my old welds. I added a 3/4 inch platform that is 11 inches wide and 7 inches deep. Also hand stitched a 3 step aider. the stick is 15 inches from the bottom step to the platform. The aider is also 15 inches between steps. The aider is fastened to the bottom step using just simple eye loops until I drill holes to permanently secure it. I use bungy type hair ties to hold it wrapped up at the bottom of the stick while in transit. It does still use a cam buckle strap to secure it to the tree. I'd like to hear your opinions on it.
