Yesterday we took the family out to shoot some skeet to knock the dust off for dove season. While we were up there I prepped a couple trees under the watchful eye of my wife, 6yo and 4yo. One tree is an oak along the edge of a field that is full of acorns. I put some sticks on the tree that will stay there all season. I get to the height I will be hunting and start cutting branches for lanes. My wife (who hunts doves, turkeys, ducks, and fishes more than me) says,” they will be able to see you “. I smile and say “in a regular stand yes, but in a saddle I will be right here”. I lean back behind the tree in between two large branches and disappear.
She thought that was awesome, and I can’t wait to shoot the first legal deer I see come out on September 15
