So, I bought this thing off an auction site long enough ago I can't remember what it is. No markings on it anymore. I think it's a Samick Sage, but the riser isn't laminated. Feels like it might be 50# or so.

I'd like to finally start shooting it. Any tips? Do I even need to know what it is to have an archery shop help me set it up?

All you really need to set up any bow is poundage so that you can get a rough estimate on which arrows (spine) will get you close for tuning purposes.

Is there any markings on the limbs? That is where you’ll find the poundage and length of bow.
No markings anywhere. I think it had a sticker with the usual information at one point, but it must have fallen off at some point. I'll bring it by my local bow shop and have it weighed and pick up some arrows to practice with. Probably aluminum, I expect to miss a lot ar first and don't want to shatter carbons.

Mystery solved! According to my email archive, it's a PSE Impala, 55# @ 28". I paid $52 for it. And another $52 for a Black Hawk Avenger, 50# @ 28", which still has the info written on it. Nothing came up for "bow" or "recurve" but "takedown" popped right up.

Thanks everyone for your help! I'll be bringing both to my local shop for a once-over and getting set up.
