If anyone hasn't seen or heard, this year the Ohio State Trappers Association is hosting the National Trappers Association National Convention in Lima, Ohio July 28-30th
This makes the third time we've hosted it at Lima(previously held many times at other venues). 2013 was the last one here. We've got some more kid friendly activities this year with the Kid's Cave which was a big hit last year at national convention. New this year will also be a series of Woman-led demonstrations for the lady trappers out there.

If you love to trap or want to learn more about it, that is one of the best places to start. You can usually pick up traps at special event pricing and you could make the argument your saving in shipping cost. Of most importance; however, is showing support for trappers and trapping. With fur prices down and gas prices up, it’s a tough sell to many to justify it. If nothing else, buy a membership in the NTA or your state trapping association or both. You can’t believe how many ignorant people are out in the word when it comes to trapping. Finally, it’s probably the absolute most regulated outdoor pursuit there is. Compare the trapping regulations in your state to the general hunting regs. sometime. Besides all that, the food is usually spectacular and you can harken back to the good ole days of the Mountain Man Rendezvous and perhaps catch a glimpse of the pursuit that was single-handedly the motivation for most westward expansion and exploration.

I’m from central Pa and our Trappers Convention this year was terrible compared to years past…

Its going to be a rough year for conventions. Our state convention will be markedly smaller. It usually is on the years we host a national being only little over a month after the NTA plus most of the dealers will be at the NTA so they dont want to make the same trip twice. Plus most everyone in the state went to the NTA so money gets to be a bit thin.

On that note, as of two weeks ago there hasnt been any dealer cancellations for the NTA
