Need a vanes reccomendation

I’d ask what your arrow set up and use case. I can’t speak to 3D or target shooting but for hunting I’ve used AAE Max Stealth as well with excellent results. My arrow setup was around 650gr with about 17% foc and they flew light darts.

I’ve fletched and shot probably 3 dozen arrows that I’ve built with 2.75” TAC Drivers. Shot some hundreds and hundreds of times into foam targets. Others into multiple animals. Never had a single one break lose. Using the TAC glue and Easton primer pen. It’s $12 and takes literally 5 seconds per vane. Gotta be the way you’re fletching or something you’re using.

I would have recommended AAE Max Stealth and to use the full prep kit they sell. They have more surface area than a Blazer and stabilize my arrows very well with a helical and are quiet in flight.

HOWEVER, AAE just came out with this

which is basically an improved version of the Max Stealth but needs no primer, wipes, and glue

I wish I didn't have a dozen with the older version on there, or I'd use these....kinda makes me wanna strip my vanes off but I won't

Heat vanes are all I have used since they were released for my compounds. Durable, stiff, low profile and very easy application. They are what I recommend to all my customers with the Bohning X and Bolt vanes as a close second.

Feathers for my traditional and kids bows

I heard alot of good things bout the Q2i's. That's what I'm going with this year. Also if you are worried about getting good vane contact or your vanes separating the Q2i is the way to go. They don't require any vane prep and you can pretty much use any type of vane or super glue and they will stick great.

Pretty sure I have seen blazer feathers..

A 5” trad cut traditional will have lots of drag and sound like a startled grouse.

Nothing wrong with vanes..

That statement is slightly misleading. Drag, yes. Noise, depends on how you fletch. I shoot 5" almost exclusively. Trad cuts are no different than parabolic in most cases, but if you twist the heck out of any of them they get noisy.

The louder of the cuts are full size banana ime. Cut back on the helical and they quiet up as well.

I have a 3" chopper. Works nice as a 4 fletch.

I was super interested in these but TAC are lighter and don’t have the memory issues.

Been shooting AAE max stealths for a long time switched it up to DCA super sabres this year and really like those so far

I was under the impression u wanna straight fletch feathers? Not sure if that's correct but that is what I do...the feather got natural curl correct? That's why we buy either right or left wing

There's at least a couple different 2" feathers....gateway razor and trueflight are what i have used

Bloody/dirty birds are gateway and the clean 1s trueflight

You don't "have" to straight fletch them. I use a decent offset. You can add all the helical you want as long as the feather is in the same orientation and you can get it to stick.

But isn't that gonna make em more noisy?
yes, and slow them down. However you can get significant stabilization from feathers with a big helical. Ages ago we shot big feathers, first on lincoln log aluminums and later on beman hunters. Even on a poorly tuned bow with finger releases and lots of shelf contact, a 5" feather with a full helical will stabilize it. When I first got into archery hunting and my dad got back into it he was shooting an old Browning x-cellerator with the wood riser and a stick on arrow rest like you'd have on a recurve. 29" or 30" 2216's with a 125 rocky mountain 3 blade up front and 5" barred green/brown helical feathers. It was a strikingly pretty combo. It also had to arc them in like a missile as they were only doing about 180 fps. And that bow was 60 lb with 40% letoff. Might as well have been hunting with a good recurve. But those arrows flew straight.

That's about what my arrows flying...I can count the rotations by eye....hahaha.
If I remember correctly I think I get 7 rotations at 20yds

It seems less prevalent with the shorter cuts. Just my observation.
I have some 2” feathers here that I hunted the year before last. Shooting them side by side with blazers and aae plastifletches, the feathers have that distinct whoosh as they fly. Blazers are pretty loud too. AAE and tac drivers are both quieter.

Anything with a high profile is going to make more noise than something lower. The more helical, the more noise. Material will no doubt make a difference as well. Simple as that.
