Need help with Rope mod on muddy aerolites

Does anyone have the blueprint on the rope mod for the muddy arrowlite 3 step sticks. Which rope works best? Do you have to change out the verse like button?
I plan on removing a couple wrongs to save some weight and trying to get rid of these cam buckles and straps.
They are different from the heliums and the Lonewolf sticks so I’m looking for a method that works best for these. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did this mod a couple years back on my aerolites. I believe the correct diameter rope was 8 or 9 mm accessory cord. I bought 7, 8, and 9 and it definitely wasn’t the 7. But I can’t remember which. I’ll measure when I get home from work tonight. I think it’s 8mm tho.

I did not remove their ‘versa buttons.’ The angle of the backside of those things really forces the rope to friction hitch against itself. In other words, it worked really well as it was. The key was getting the loop you tie on your rope end that goes around the button just barely tight enough to skip over. Like I had to force it over the button.

I’ll post some pics of that as well.

Alright, I measured the rope and couldn’t get consistent measurements with the calipers. It was either 8mm or 9mm and leaned more towards 9mm. But I put it to a tape and it was clearly 5/16”.

Here are pics of the loops I made on and off of the button and also a pic of it on a tree.

Hope this helps!

Do you think the 8 mm rope would work? I would like to go with the small as rope as I can. What type of rope did you use? Like Sterling HTP or something like that?

I think 8mm is actually what I have on there. I just can’t verify for sure. I bought 8mm accessory cord at a local outdoors/climbing shop. Not sure what brand it is. I remember checking the spool to see the weight rating to make sure it was appropriate. Sorry man! I wish I could be more help for you!

No worries man. I’m only a few months in on this saddle hunting gig and I have found so much info on here while lurking around. Glad I could be of some help for once!

Lemme know if you have any other questions!
