New 1 Sticking options!

Rapelling isn't limited to one sticking, or any other climb style. Nor is every option, ascent or decent, for every hunter. By the numbers, I'll bet Plebe is right, he's a numbers enthusiast when it comes to hunting and hunting gear :)

Edit: crap weather is pretty indifferent in my experience too

Sounds like a good time packing up all that crap in the dark when its 20 degrees. All the time hoping the sticks dont kill me.

Oh, it's not so bad so long as you keep a pocketful of replacement stacking pins. lol.

I'm on this thread to support a product that imo improves a one stick, and is lighter than similar functioning options......

This forum hurts my wallet. I’ve climbed 2TC…. I like it but I end up a sweaty mess so I keep it for backup. Primarily I climb with my 4 chopped down novix sticks with cable aiders and my bottom stick has a two step aider………I’m having a hard time not buying an upper platform and a cam cleat and making it a one stick…..I gotta try this seems much easier than 2TC for me.

It’s the cost of material & manufacture. Out On A Limb is fabricating these for Real Deal…. I have the bottom step, really considering the top step…

Yeah, I'm sure the price point is where it needs to be... just doesn't make it an easy decision.. lol. This is one area of my EWO stick with the standard bottom step that I have some issue with. I feel like my foot is so far under the UP platform on top and I get kind of in a pinch as I climb up onto the stick at times. Its better with a linemans rope as I can lean back enough to clear the UP... but if this step gets me out from under it a bit more, it will be golden. I most likely will get this step at some point. This is my first year one sticking, so I'm going to use what I have, learn and figure out what I really need and dont.

The ultimate one stick with ULS and UP all rigged out is over 6lbs. Might as well just bring a set of sticks with you.
I agree with you from a weight only perspective. But its one solid unit and so there's nothing more to rattle together or drop or whatever. Pluses and minuses to all systems.

What is the utility of a larger bottom step? Granted I haven't one sticked as long as some of you all, but it seems to me that the point of the bottom step is to give you a place to step temporarily to get into the top step/platform so all it needs to be is a standard step. Am I missing something that these platform lower steps enable you to do easier?

someone please explain lol, I’m looking at trying one sticking and of buying once crying once is better I’ll definitely do that.

For me, three years into one-sticking, the larger bottom step (Lookout step right now) gives me another comfortable place to put a foot-change up my stance for comfort-much like my squirrel steps. Two years of using a double step on the bottom, which works fine, but i like the extra room for a foot. Tried the ULS and it works great, but decided to try the lighter option.

So this is why i wanted to offer this step. I couldnt use my u.p. with regular double step. When transitioning from top step of aider to my bottom step of stick the u.p. interfered unlike my scout platform. This step alleviates that issue.

As for price its not much different in material and machining to a scout. Add in the holes that are tapped for the aider bolts which are included. I feel $70 is fair for the lookouts when the scouts are $80. Also the crowsnest offers very similar foot spacing to the u.p....might not appear that way but it does..

Additionally use code "CHOP" at checkout to recieve 5% off all orders and products. When someone uses this code i will also be donating 5% of the sale to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia...feel free to share this code with anyone that is considering placing an order.
Thanks
Luke

Its a good step, Its hard to explain the benefit of steps like these, you have to actually try it.

Lol, I’m pretty much in the same boat as you! Since Luke is from my state, i might just buy a full 1 stick from him with this lower step and the small upper platform. (was eyeing the BOB previously). gonna have to wait till this offseason, or I’ll need a divorce lawyer.

same lol

My version of 1 sticking I use a Wedge Loc Falcon as my upward progress device as it were. I descend remove ,advance line up tree and set again. I know everyone is concerned about weight but the tree connection that this uses is the one that introduces the least amount of fiddle factor. I have practiced enough that I can be pretty quiet during the process. Also the platform is very easy to slide around tree once set to fine tune. I try to use my gear for multiple purposes to eliminate weight in other ways. I am down to a small New Tribe bag for over my shoulder, a pvc push stick that I break down into two pieces and my platform I wear across other shoulder. My rope I coil and slide over an arm as well.
