New boots

I was specifically reading about the pronghorn boots. So, maybe it's just those that consistently leak?
I’ve had 3 pairs of pronghorns. 1st pair I bought in 2006 were awesome.
2nd paid bought in 2013, leaked like a sieve after 2 seasons. I called GoreTex, and went through their warranty process. Was easy To do. Ended up with a brand new replacement set last year, free of charge.
Can’t say that I would buy another set of pronghorns, but I was a big fan of Gore Tex and their warranty.

Interested in the Merrell's. Why do you say "depending on where you hunt check out Merrells"? Are there certain terrain features and/or temperatures you don't recommend them?
Well some areas I hunt are swampy and have about knee high water for a good portion of the walk in, others have knee high creek crossings. For these I prefer Muck boots so my feet don’t get wet. Merrels only go barely above the ankle so not great unless you want soggy toes lol

If you’re going to shop in-store, your best option is to try a good handful of pairs on and browse around the store in 2-3 pairs that feel best. Narrow down to one that’s most in your price range, and offers the best range of motion. Insulation is awesome. Wool socks are just as awesome. I’m not saying don’t insulate, but anything over about 900 grams is too much for full-season unless it gets below 0 for more than 6 weeks of the season IMO. Your feet, ankles, and back won’t lie.

Are the Danners legitimately waterproof? I've ready numerous reviews saying that they always leak.

The pair I have are legit water proof. But I also don't use them exactly like rubber boots. It's more of a "just in case" waterproofing. If I know I am gonna get into a lot of water, I wear my Lacrosse rubber boots for sure.

I looked at those as well. I’m not a huge fan of taller boots though. I wear gaiters so I don’t really even need taller boots, and the gaiters fit better on shorter boots. But those look like a great boot for someone looking for something with higher ankle support/protection.
