Hi everyone. Another wanna-be saddle hunter here!

Anyone else in the Seacoast area?

I have never hunted from a saddle. Currently reading, reading, reading and playing with DIY at ground level. Looking to purchase a saddle in the next month so I can have it by late spring and begin practicing hunting situations.

I mostly hunt from a lone wolf hand climber and looking to expand my setup options and drop some bulk from my gear. So far I am leaning towards a Kestrel and using my LWHC or some type of steps for climbing.

Thanks to everyone who contributes here, this site is awesome!

Welcome!

I'm "next door" in the Green Mountain State. I too was a LWHC user and switched to saddles to drop weight.

I went with the Kite and WE steps with aiders. Also used the top of the hand climber during rifle. Liked both approaches. Didn't like aspects of both.

Working on a 1-stick approach for year two.

Welcome Larry! There's a saddlepalooza coming up April 27th at Auburn Sportsman's Club in Massachusetts you should see if you can make it. What ever your questions are they will be answered there. Check it out!

Larry I’m a Granite State guy myself. I went from Summit Open Shot climbed to LW hangon to next year I plan on going 3 sticks with aider on bottom, RCH and fleece saddle and primal step with wood insert for platform.

Of all my research that appears to be the cheapest functionally acceptable entry level setup. If I love it maybe I sell my LW and buy mantis and predator.

New myself, and stuck with public land, so dropping weight and versatility are the targets for me also! Welcome!
