Hey everyone! I’m down in the SC Lowcountry. I’ve hunted from a climber most of my life and switched to hanging stands last year with a new hunting lease. I wasn’t a fan of the lack of versatility but didn’t want to go back to using a climber. I came across saddle hunting and really liked everything about it. I did some research on here and decided to go with the Tethrd Phantom, predator XL platform and Hawk Helium sticks with Dan O’s amsteel aiders. I’m still waiting on a few items to come in but I can’t wait to get out and climb a tree!

Welcome! I'm also in the SC low country Charleston area if you ever want to meet up to try a climbing method etc. I also came from the climber world and I can tell you, from a public land hunters perspective that I am much more mobile and willing to make the longer treks and into thicker areas now than I was lugging that 25lbs monstrosity along with my pack. You've found the right place to find info and ask questions. Make sure you get some practice climbs in before going out, though it can be done I don't recommend it. Get comfortable and efficient with your system and learn to trust it then take it out.

I’m down in the Beaufort area so not too far from you! That’s great to hear your experiences and it really confirms my decision. The area I hunt has very few roads so I’m really looking forward to the added mobility. I don’t plan on hunting until probably mid Sept. when it hopefully cools down a little so I’m going to start practicing as soon as I get everything in!

I don't know about Beaufort cooling down significantly by the end of September... I had a few days in December this past season that were in the high 70s but things do "cool off" normally by November... though I'm originally from Michigan so I have a different view of "cool"

I hear ya haha. I’m from the area so sadly in the 70’s is my idea of cool. I like to wait until after Sept.15th so I can start shooting does too. I need all the opportunity I can get!
