Hello!
I am very new to saddle hunting (don't even have gear yet) but I am trying to learn everything that I can pre purchase. My goal is to go deeper in the woods and that would require me to be lighter than what I currently have. So, here I am. I am looking forward to all the tips and advice that y'all can give.

Welcome from 30” up in the CT State forest!

If you're ever in the Augusta, GA area, you're welcome to come try out my setup. I'd be happy to show you the ropes (pun intended).

Welcome to the site! A good pack will carry the weight so much nicer. Good luck moving into the saddle world its a great site for learning

Welcome. Best advice anyone can give you is to meet up with some local saddle hunters and give multiple set ups a try. Everyone is different as far as comfort, how they hunt and also what’s important or essential to them. (Some guys run and gun more so it’s about weight, some have all day spots or are more safety conscious). There are so many options out there for saddles, and now platforms, ring of steps, and climbing methods. It’ll save you a lot of time and money down the line if you are able to meet up and try different ones until you see what’s right for you.
