Hello all, newbie here from Central VA. Been following this forum for quite a few months now since learning about saddle hunting after watching a John Eberhart interview. Decided it is now time to join and get involved in some fun discussions and ask many questions. Grew up paying club dues and hunting private lands. Quit the pay game last year and decided to take advantage of the 2 state forests, 6 WMAs (~50K acres total) all within a 30-45 min drive. Hunted from all ladder stands and climbers since I began bow hunting in 2011. Really interested in saddle hunting and plan to make it what I do 99% of my hunt time. Will be purchasing a saddle in early 2020 (after seeing what gets released at ATA). Right now I’m down to choice of Aero Kite and Tethrd Mantis. Also plan to climb using sticks (eventually 1 sticking w/ rappelled descent). Really love all the info included here and look forward to sharing my journey as a new saddle hunter.

Welcome! Im also from central Va. If you’re near Matoaca and want to try out sticks and a mantis let me know.

Welcome from Midlothian. I have a friend in a hunt club nearby called bucktown, you familiar? Anyway, I have tons of stuff should you care to try. Mantis, Flex, JX3, SRT. DRT, Beast sticks, single Hawk with cam cleat for one sticking, spurs.....and on and on and on.......

Thanks bowhuntr09. Not familiar with that. BuckTown is just a short name handle for my county, Buckingham. Many clubs in this area so there probably are multiple BuckTown clubs around.

Just rode throu your area..... All you guys up there have a really good sporting good store.....green top was the name I think. Welcome to the site
Greentop is fantastic. Their old location was very small and crowded but they did excellent business. They moved into the old Gander building and made shopping there even more pleasurable. A lot of people were questioning if Bass Pro was going to hurt there business, if anything it may of helped boost their sales. Bought my first Parker bow there back in 2011 (old building). Will be going back early in 2020 to pick me up a new Hoyt

I thought it was awesome how they had the shooting range directly next to the bass pro... Total FU to the big box store
