Hello all,
The name is Steve and I live just northwest of Nashville TN. I have just ordered my first saddle setup and in 6+ weeks should be figuring out how to hang in a tree. I joined here per recommendation from members on the Bowhunting.com forum (Not trying to plug a forum). We have a small thread over there about saddle hunting, but it does not really get any traction. Figured I'd be best suited to come and start reading over here.
I've done a lot of reading and watched the G2 outdoors guy videos and I'm ready to take the plunge. I hunt two small acreage private land spots and hunt public land in southern Illinois. Saddle style hunting will solve a lot of problems for me on public land, I am looking forward to seeing what opportunities it will open up for me.
I ordered the Tethrd Mantis starter kit, once I receive it and start playing around I'll move onto platforms and whatever other stuff I may need for next season.

Looking forward to picking your brains, Don't expect to see my post count go up, I plan on reading rather than ask the same new guy questions.
Here is this year Illinois deer for an introduction.

Howdy Steve I'm 150 miles east of you in the ridge and valley system of Tennessee. Used to hunt Macon county in mid-tn,good huntiing there about 1.5 hrs from you. Check out Hickman and Perry counties too. Just switched to saddle and still have lots to learn.----Greg

Thank you all for the warm welcome; update as of day two: I have read quite a lot, still reading. Great info and insights into different setups. I'm pretty excited about receiving my Mantis, I saw they (Tethrd) said they are getting things going a little smoother/quicker, maybe the 6 weeks lead time will shorten. Either way, I have plenty of time to figure out how to up for myself.
I told a few guys at work about it, they just gave me that funky *** look, the same look I gave when I first started researching saddle style hunting.

Thank you for the welcome, honestly where I hunt in Illinois is closer than those counties; although it does cost me right around $500/year to hunt out of state, it is worth it to me. I have two spots in Robertson county I've been hunting for 6 years now and finally killed a good buck there. Good to meet you!

Welcome from MA. Your in the right place. Nice buck.
I actually grew up in Connecticut and have gone to Mass a few times when I raced MX. I still go up to visit family in CT and will sneak up to Fenway to watch the Sox. I miss the Lobstah and general Italian based food.
