The only thing holding me back really is the complaints of noise from the predator platform. To me that is a no no. Shouldn’t have to modify or mess with a hunting stand to make it quiet. But you are correct a hundred dollars more pays for a little tweaking. Have to wait and see.

With a predator you can actually swing around behind a small tree and straddle the platform. Do you think you could do that with a primal step.
not clear what you mean here. You mean balls to bark? Sure. Or going to the opposite side of the tree? I suppose that's doable with modifications, but I haven't hunted a tree where it would have been feasible, except for when I was carrying an rose. Through coincidence I've only used it on heavy leaners and/or trees with a lot of branches in the way.

I understand the hesitation, but 3 minutes and some bow wax, I haven't had a peep out of it for the past 4 months. I've been in 80° and in the snow, still nothing.

What @rakbowhunter said. The Gen 2 comes pre waxed. I haven't seen anyone say the Gen 2 has made a sound yet. My gen 1 and my son's gen 2 has never made a sound.

Good to hear about the stands being quiet. How long does the bow wax fix last. Is it something that needs to be done yearly?

Not sure, it's been out less than a year. I put it on in September, was still quiet on my last hunt in December. Might just hit it with wax before every season.

Between my Lone Wolf hand climber for public land pole trees, my sticks/ ameristep ROS combo and screw ins for my private land pre sets, I use three setups to hunt from. I'm such a whore...

I have a gen 1 predator. Never made a peep. Ever. For peace of mind, I bow waxed up the washers. Still never heard a peep. Stand is solid and quiet for me. Every time I hunt out of it, I think "Man...I love this thing!"
The only noise mine made was where the adjustment bolt hit the post I put a stick on Velcro there no more noise , mine doesn't squeak at all!

It's really a non-issue. The gen2's come prewaxed and should be no trouble. It wouldn't hurt to wax them once a year just as general maintenance. I have yet to find one hunting item that is "perfect" right off the shelf and doubt I ever will lol :D

I am soooo glad I ordered a predator before this came out.. Even though I did have a little sticker shock I bet its a high quality platform and I would have been tempted. Really by my own curiosity though.. wondering if I would like it more than the predator. Ultimately I believe I will like the predator for its size and packability. That means more to me than $100 difference. I will spend that on gas in the offseason looking at places ill never hunt
