Planning on getting back into deer hunting after a long break - going the saddle route and gather all the info out there. Great Forum!

I didn't realize there was a map that showed registered users. Rather surprised by the low numbers out West!

We aren't blanketed with those endless deciduous forests like the eastern half is. Lots of wide open spaces out here, and much of the terrain doesn't really lend itself to picking a single spot and climbing a tree. Move, spot, and stalk is more the norm. But there is a place and time for everything, and there are still plenty of options for saddlehunters out here. I do enjoy both, and will stay equipped for both. Must be mobile and adaptable, and having saddle/climbing gear is becoming an important (and fun) part of that for me.

Add one more newby to saddle hunting in the west. Stoked to try it out for elk this year. Didn't draw a tag for muley, but did get a speed goat archery tag..... too bad there aren't any trees to goof around with for the goats
