Need an Opinion on platform setup. Not new to saddle hunting but new to the platform idea. Bought a ridge runner platform yesterday and wanting ideas for setup. Like, do you use steps with it for more maneuvering? Like how many 1, 2?
Any good mods for the ridge runner? Like getting rid of the buckle. All ideas appreciated.
Do you cover then when hauling in? I know predator has a but I am not sure about ridge runner.
Thoughts from a tree stand...

I have found no need for additional steps. In my opinion the incremental tightening ability of buckle is necessary for it to work and bind right. If noise is issue put small section of neoprene tubing over buckle. As for carrying, mine fits in pack but to minimize abrasion to inside of pack gonna custom make zippered pouch the platform sits in while in pack. Best way I've found to take it up tree after removing from pack is to tie small short loop of paracord to back center molle loop on saddle then hang rr platform by the leveling screw in this loop. Since the head of that screw is oversized it hangs well but is easy to reach around and remove when ready to hang.

Recieved my RR a last week and have used it as is on the last 6 hunts. Great platform thats "sticky" as all get out! I've been putting it in my daypack and hauling it in but thought about a cover too. I've not had any trouble with the rough texture chewing up any of my ropes or clothing that rides in the bag with it yet thankfully. Mod wise, I'm sure one's imagination could run wild but truthfully there's nothing that needs to be done except maybe silencing the buckle if one felt the need. After a week of use I feel like its great the way it is without doing much to it!

That helps
