New to saddle hunting, rope preference question

I ended up using a Ropeman on my tether because setting my tether at head height my knot length and carabiner was just too long for some settings. With the Ropeman I’m able to cut that distance down by a few inches. I a green a friction knot would be better for the rope and I believe safer on the tether.
Yep, that's the exact setup I started with.

I wonder how many hunts do people put on regular tethers and lineman’s ropes before they buy new? I imagine long climbing ropes don’t last as long due to their length.
I’ve been using the same rappel/climbing line for three years. As long as you inspect it for damage and it gets faked down properly and not stowed wet it’ll last for quite awhile. Some manufacturers say 10 years with more frequent replacement if you’re using the line more often. For my 10-20 hunts a season with some other climbs sprinkled in I’ll be fine for some time.

Hey all,
Switching over to saddle hunting from a climber setup. Wife got me a trophyline venetic saddle for xmas. Still have to piece the rest of the kit together and was curious. What is everyone's preference on tether and lineman's ropes? Trophyline vs Tethrd? 8mm vs 11mm? Looks like trophyline runs 170ish for both vs 150ish for tethrd, I like that trophyline is made in USA but can't find any info on where the tethrd ropes are made? Appreciate the input, I'm just slowly building my setup in prep for this season. From safety standpoint, is the prusic knot sufficient or should something else be added.
There seems to be a natural progression to saddle hunting, with folks starting out with a certain load set and then substituting pieces of kit as the get some sits under their belt. Nothing wrong with buying a quality kit from a reputable source IE latitude, Eastern Woods Outdoors, Trophyline, etc. Hang for a season and figure out what you like/don’t like and adjust accordingly. I myself use rescutech with a Madrock as I 1 stick and rappel. I only run one line which is my rappel line and I run 30 feet of that so I want a smaller diameter cordage which packs down smaller and is flexible, for those requirements rescutech fits the bill.
I do have a back up linemans belt for maneuvering and just in case scenarios which is Sterling htp and a kong duck.

I bought the Cruzr saddle kit a couple years ago, it came with 11mm ropes. I bought a couple Kong Ducks, that's the only change I've made to the rope part of my setup. Just get something tried and true/safe and start hanging out in the trees!

I did the same thing, until I figured out my adjustments and comfort. After that, tether height almost doesn't affect comfort at all (top of my head down to chest level barely changes anything).

I use Canyon elite for climbing, hunting from and rappelling. Its a nice, soft supple rope, but I'd sure like to downsize to 8mm for weight and packability. 40ft of 9mm canyon elite is pretty stout.

If madrock gets this new device to market this summer, I will most likely go with predator 8mm.
