Hello.
I've never saddle hunted before and am about to order my gear. I'm planning on ordering the Aerohunter "Flex" kit (with pouches) and the "Ultimate one stick" with the U.P platform. I am 35 yrs. old, live in Michigan, 6' and 197#. My questions are-
For the "Ultimate one stick", I was thinking of getting the 15" stick with the 3 step aider, 15" between steps. Yay or nay?
And for the saddle kit- is there a major difference between the solid and mesh saddles? Should I be upgrading the 1" webbing bridge, or will it work fine? Anything else that I will need that I haven't listed? I also plan on just one sticking down the tree.
Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions.

If you hunt any cold weather for heavy clothing rhe shorter steps are easier. I am not experienced with kne sticking so cant comment on it. Mess panels are cooler in hot weather

One sticking down a tree with aiders is gonna be annoying. Make sure you do something to make your aider steps stiff, piece of hose taped up, paracord wrap, new stuff I don't know about.

When I started I bought wild edge steps, and a 5 step aider. Never actually hunted with them because I hated climbing down an aider. If coming down stinks, look up figure 8 reppeling.

Flex is fine, I think there’s one on classifieds. Get a sz2 . Saddle material is personal preference, don’t sweat it b/c you don’t know what you like yet. I prefer a rope bridge over webbing bridge, but the aero web bridge is fine the way it is. As for one sticking. If I was just getting into this it wouldn’t be my first vote for a climbing method. You may end up there, but you have a lot to manage & get the hang of safety wise initially getting comfortable in a saddle. So an advanced climbing method wouldn’t be my recommendation. I would start with a set of novix minis for example, you could always upgrade one of them to a onestick later or buy an EWO ultimate onestick & sell those down the road. All of this is complete personal preference & what works for some may not work for others. None of this is meant to discourage you, sounds like you’ve been reading up! I’d stay away from aiders in my system until I got real dialed in with my climbing method & saddle hookup. Welcome btw!

The Aerohunter site says that the size1 saddle fits waist size 26-36. I am a size 34. Why do you say I should get a size2? Do they run that small?

Just my opinion but I think once you one stick down the tree the first time, it will be the last time you do it. Can't imigane doing that in the dark, it was bad enough in broad daylight.

It's not that they run small. It's how it sits around your butt. Everyone is shaped a little different. Some guys have preferred the large size. Some guys are good true to size. With out trying one it's hard to say. I bet you would be fine either way. Your gonna have to find your "sweet spot" by sitting in it. Every saddle is different on everyone. Where are you at in Michigan? There is a meet up planned for may 1st.

I’m 36” and run size one Merlin. Size 2 is WAY bigger and felt floppy to me when I tried someone’s size 2 flex.
