I have a good friend, a retired AF colonel, who recently moved to NC to be closer to his daughter. He is having a hell of a time finding places to bow hunt, and if at all possible I was hoping on of our own might be able to point him in the right direction. He is not looking for a freebie or a handout, just some intel and some local knowledge. Thank you in advance!

The SH Membership has gone live. Only SH Members have access to post in the classifieds. All members can view the classifieds. Funny you ask. I was just there this past weekend at Butner falls gamelands ( above Durham) this past Saturday. Walked about 10 miles up there. A lot of land up there.

I was just checking out all the public land and there is plenty to keep him hunting new areas for a long time! Wish I lived closer that way!

Agree with all on Butner, and Jordan, also if he doesn't mind driving and doesn't have access to private, Fort Bragg is open on Sundays also. If he has 50% or more VA disability he can get his Bragg permit free. Just another option.
Tons of places to hunt in NC if he's willing to drive. From Raleigh you can almost pick a direction and drive and end up at a game land

New to this board. I live in North Raleigh by butner falls game land. We plan to hunt that and I am also part of a private club. If he's interested he is welcome to go on a hunt with us. PM me for my number.

Like most of have said, tons of public land opportunities here in Central NC. Aside from Jordan and Falls Lake, there is Harris and Chatham game lands which are proposed to be opened to Sunday hunting next year(Jordan is not, not sure about Falls). Bragg is huge and has other amenities like access to a walk in cooler to hang a deer. Good Luck!!
