I am brand new to this forum and have been researching hunting saddles. I currently use a combination of fixed stands (lockon and ladder) as well as a Summit Viper climber. Is there anywhere in the Charlotte area where you can try out a saddle? Prior to dropping several hundred $$, I would like to ensure it's right for me.
I appreciate any help and guidance this group can give.

Thank you,

I don't know of any store that actually carries saddles other than the hawk saddle. I'm sure that someone on here lives close by that'll let you try out theirs. If you can't find anyone willing id be down to help out. Although I do live a decent drive away from Charlotte. I'm located in New Bern.

We held the first Greater Carolinas gathering last March near Charlotte and hope to do another this spring, assuming big brother covid laws don't get in the way. Stay tuned, we will post more information as we get the planning started. This will be your best chance to tryout many saddles and other gear from the key manufacturer, and highly encourage you to do that before you buy.

One other question. Has anyone looked at using a climbing harness like the Xben Pro as their saddle? Seems they are ~1/3 the price and seem to offer all the same benefits. However, since I've never done this before, I may be missing something important.

Many, many people have tried rock climbing harnesses. They just aren’t as comfortable as a real saddle.
