As northern Ohioans we are invisible in the hunting world, shooting whatever scraps we can find that wander up from 100s of miles away in the southern hills. Anybody want to chime in throughout the season to comment on how things are going around here?

I agree for the most part, especially in NW Ohio. I think there are a couple nice honey holes if you look around though. Unfortunately life hasn’t let me out in the woods basically at all yet this season despite how much I’ve been looking forward to it all year. I’ll follow and chime back in when I can finally get some boots on the ground a little bit. Keep the faith.

I'm in south east Ohio but did you guys see that giant killed in Mt. Giliead, not sure how far north it is. Guess it scored 205" and shot with a longbow. Neck on that guy looks swelled up big time

I grew up in Meigs county and currently live in Tuscarawas and have heard people refer to where I live now as "south east Ohio". Just curious as to what you guys are considering as northern Ohio.

Anything north of washington/Athens is central ohio...north of noble is northern. I'm from guernsey originally and now live in Gallia. The zone thing annoys me

Oh man for three years I had a lease with a few other friends about 7 miles from Mt Gilead, this year we didn’t renew just due to time constraints but there are big deer in that area.

I dunno but I’d say Tuscarawas is close enough! I hunted Meigs once a year for about a decade.

Wow. Thats only 8 miles from me.
There is also a huga albino buck in that area.

I hunted Ashley for 3 years, farm country wood lots were not as easy as they looked on the map. Those deer are not dumb.

I live in Trumbull County in NE OH. Friend of mine killed a 200”+ deer on private in Ashtabula County opening night. Tough finding big deer on public though.

Wow, I live near Cleveland but hunt where I grew up in Ashtabula. Hadn’t heard yet of a monster going down this year in the county.

I don’t see a lot of huge deer around here but this is a good one I’m seeing on camera this year:

and I did have one freak show up back in 2011:

I wish in that video he gave some summary of what the setup was.

I’m definitely seeing pre rut trailcam action heat up. This weekend, and then Tuesday are looking pretty good.
I've seen alot of sparring on cam, few little bucks pushing chasing doe a little but that's about it
