Notch dryad dynamic cabling

Personal preference of course... I don’t like the way the rope packs into the bag. By the time I break everything down and put it into a bag and then have to fight the zipper, I get aggravated. With the knot I use for Amsteel I can untie with minimal effort and then pack into the bag without a hassle. That’s really the only issue I have with the standard rope that comes on them. Great product overall, I just have certain things I’m peculiar about.

Just curious and you may have already seen it yet but have you seen the guys that are opening up the bottom of the bag so the Rope will fall through? When I had the opportunity to use somebody else's steps the first thing I noticed that aggravated me was the ropes wanting to keep pulling the zipper open. By opening the bottom of the bag that allows the ropes to fall out the bottom instead of pulling at the zipper. Now that your sewing you could add a zipper to the bottom of the bag to make it easy to open and close.

I agree totally. I bought the dryad to play with but this is the only thing I put it on just because I wanted 2 stepps with 8ft ropes, going to keep it on there cause I would be putting them on first and from ground level. If i could adjust the knot easier I would put it on all of them. Gonna try amsteel on one but if not i will use the original rope. Cant remember who it was that put the dryad on a stick with a versa button but I could see that being a good application for it since you should only have to just put it on tight without readjustment. Maybe for a platform also according to type of attachment system. Oh and I'm also going to put it on my Kestrel temporarily/permanently to try a fixed bridge. Hey @Swampfox are you saying you use a different knot with the amsteel and not the WE knot?
I put it on my sticks for the rope mod and wasn't a huge fan, but it was also the first time I tried the rope mod. I also put it on as a bridge and I didn't like it for a bridge. In the one hunt I made with it the threads were getting caught in the briars and pulled so I said enough of that.

What I don't like about the original is how stiff it is (gets worse with age and cold temps and after it has been stored or left on a tree for a long period of time it acquires memory), and how noisy it is getting it in and out of the bag.

I have been using Amsteel on Stepps for 5 or 6 years now.... untying the knot it as simple as uncamming the step and pushing slack into the knot from the excess going around the tree. It might take 1-2 seconds longer then the original rope but it far surpasses the original in workability and how quiet it is. Many ways to skin a cat but for me amsteel is far superior then the original rope for sneaking in and out and I don't have to alter a bag, worry about zippers or hang all the ropes from the bottom, etc. Try it with the loop method and it is ridiculously easy to get it on a tree tight.

Thanks for the info Dave, I need to order more Amsteel for sure. Glad I didn't buy very much dryad. BTW I haven't ordered my Triax yet but you have sold me on it, that sucker is a shooter.

1/4” amsteel I presume?

I’ll have to try it again. I can’t remember what I didn’t like. It wasn’t untying the knot. I think it wasn’t getting tight enough because I was on a big pine tree and the relaxed amsteel was grabbing the bark so I couldn’t get it straight across the back easily. I’ll play with it again. I love amsteel.
I don’t have any packing or zipping problems with the original rope on an 8 pack. I think it’s the bigger packs that have issues.
