Thinking about a cast aluminum stand as another option when I don’t use my Windwalker or know I want to climb a tree where leveling is needed. Anybody have experience with both? Is the Helo worth the extra $$?

I had an xop vanish as my first tree stand years ago. Or at least it was an older variant. Had a couple other stands in between but right now I have the Helo. I would say if you’re only planning to use the stand rarely, like 2-3 times a season and no more, maybe go for the cheaper xop. If you want a quality stand you will use and carry often, I would say go for the Helo.

I've had the echo, the xop vanish evo and an assault 2. The xop was nice, but I didn't like the seat post and after hearing of quality issues I sold it and bought an helo when they first came out. It was better than the xop but for me the platform was a little small at the back of the stand, when I would stand with the seat up my feet were basically touching side by side.
The assault 2 was in my opinion the best of the 3, i would have kept it but ground hunt mostly and wanted to try out saddle hunting.

I’ve not used the XOP yet, but do own a Helo. Just added it this season, only complaint is the stock seat cushion.

I have both. For me, once the Vanish is up it’s likely there for a bit. On the other hand, I have four mini sticks that stay strapped to the Helo, and I find my self using that setup more often than not. It is lighter, smaller, easier to hang and comfortable enough to hunt out of all day if needed. It’s funny that you referenced the Windwalker. That’s what pushed me to the Helo, as the size is similar but the Helo is quieter and more solid in the tree. For me, the Helo was and is well worth it.

I have the helo, assault, and HAD the xop. I didn't like the xop. Maybe because I owned an assault first. But quality wasn't there and was much heavier than expected. The Helo was nice but I got it for like $180 bucks new...not sure I would pay what they are asking now. If it were me I would find a used one of either the assault or helo.
