Off season- Just curious what do most of you do between Deer seasons??

Family stuff, mostly. I spend so much time at work that indulging in my hobbies when I could be playing with my toddler feels selfish. Otherwise, motorcycles and fishing. And work. And chores. And home improvement stuff. And archery.

married with no kids and a flexible job timewise, so lots of free time and disposable income. Deer season is mid September through mid February. Bass fishing starts at ice out which is mid march most years. So I have about 4 weeks without one or the other (and a good 4 weeks of overlap in September and October where I have to pick one on a given day). I'll use that off time to reorganize my gear, tidy up the kayak, pull treestands (scouting the way in and out), and otherwise bank time with my wife (we saw two plays this past weekend) so that when I hit prime time (May and November) I've got some good will in the bank already.

The past couple of weekends went out and mapped and recorded data for 2 more spots for next year - one early season and one late season spot. The sign will tell you what part of the season to focus in on.

Having a blast too! You don't have to worry about scent, noise or busting deer out. Almost like Spring Gobbler hunting except making data notes for next year spots and shed season, and I guess getting a jump on some potential Spring Gobbler areas.

You can never have negatives without positives. The great thing about getting older (negative) is you don't have so many family obligations to spend your spare time with (positive).

Work on my food plot efforts.....do more scouting in nearby County Forests, and of course, review and buy new gear!!! :tearsofjoy:

And knock off sufficient HoneyDo list items before season opens to minimize the whining that I'm taking 4 weeks off to go hunting this fall. LOL

This is my first off season. I’ll practice with my bow, scout some areas and a little later in the year I’ll be knocking on some doors to get permission for some new properties.

surf. all year. I’d probably be a decent deer hunter if I didn’t take a surf trip a year and live close to the ocean. Snowboarding, running, hiking, flinging arrows, working out that’s about it.
taking up the recurve is making me get serious about this hunting thing
Lucky Ba_ _ _ _ _ !! (rhymes with mustard)!! :) Good for you!!
