Official admit you fell of your stick thread

This qualifies in the official admit you fell, but is not my sticks....

I was out bow hunting the afternoon of Nov 7, with my longbow, I was using my 5 year old CRUZR XC saddle and my new LWCG Ranger Hybrid platform. I was 15 feet up and suddenly very very dizzy.
As I sat down on the Ranger seat, I looped my 2 year old CRUZR tether over my left shoulder. The next thing I knew, I had passed out and fallen off the platform.
When I came back to consciousness, I could see the sky, the tree and my tether. I was hanging by my bridge, parallel to the ground, approximately 15 feet up. Once I realized where I was and what had happened, I grabbed the tether and used it to get back on the platform.
My longbow and arrow were laying on the ground where they had fallen. I was not feeling well, but managed to get down safely and get my Ranger down as well.

I'm 70 years young and I have a condition where my blood sugar can crash, drop very quickly. In worst cases, I will pass-out. I carry glucose tabs, and after resting and eating them once i got down, my blood sugar stabilized.

I am convinced that I would have been severely injured if not for the saddle and the tether.

I do not think either the saddle or the tether were damaged, but my upcoming Christmas bonus will be used to purchase a new XC, a new tether and lineman belt and the others retired. I will not stop getting in trees, but this has given me a reason to pause and reflect.

Yall stay safe.

Trying to hurry too much one sticking this afternoon. I dont know exactly what happened but I think I stepped on the amsteel rope when stepping up I to the second aider loop, and pulled the rope out of the cam. Only fell about a foot back into the saddle (minimal slack on tether) but it definitely surprised me. Didn't drop the stick or get hurt (very small scrape on front of left hip was only injury).

Lucky reminder to slow down and climb safer. Didn't need to hurry to be up 2 min faster.

So while one sticking the other day I got myself into a pickle. I lowered myself to adjust my platform, and in doing so, the lever of my madrock was activated causing me to drop suddenly. Instead of just doing nothing like I should have, I panicked and reflexively grabbed the lever causing me to zip down the rope towards the ground. I was about 20' up when this happened. As I was falling I had to tell myself "let go of the handle" and I did. I stopped, bounced a little, and let out a weird grunt, lol. My feet were about 30" from the ground. It didn't hurt. Thankfully, I had my kong futura hand ascender on me, and I was able to SRT right back up to my stick. I ended up sticking a nice sow just before dark so all was not lost.

Had I not watched a bunch of belay device videos before I started one sticking, I would not have known to just let go of the handle so the device would catch me. Some belay devices have a panic feature that prevent what happened to me from happening. If you pull the handle too far back it engages the breaking function stopping the rope. Honestly, after two seasons one sticking has started to lose its luster with me. The only real positive is unlimited height and less weight.

I sold my Muddy Pro sticks last year. After reading a few accident reports and archery forum admissions to falling, I'd had enough. I've personally slipped while climbing and received a few scrapes and bruises, but nothing that required medical attention. Just the same, it got my attention, I didn't like it and looked for a better/safer way to climb. ;)

The SRT rope techniques, along with 2 TC have my attention for the single safety factor of always being tied to the tree. I used my Summit Viper platform with my saddle and rappel rope, quite a bit, last fall and liked it. I will never use climbing sticks of any kind, for any reason. There are too many negatives associated with their usage, that don't balance out the positives. For those that continue to use them, I say be safe and good luck. :) At the end of the day, we all want to go home in one piece.

I would hate to do that to all the poor saddle hunters who have spent so much time and money refining their gear just to have me compleatly and utterly ruin their self esteam and confidence in their systems when they actualy see what their system aint and all that it could be.feeling like they have been hustled and duped and just plane lied to your whole life could cause you to divorce your system compleatly , give up and just ground hunt.or as we call it out west ...hunt....the coment section would only read...where is his gear even at?.I can't see it..I can't hear it....where is the carabiner? So simple, its so smooth it's fast without even trying. Why is it so easy for you?..how is your setup and takedown so fast and quiet?your whole system is less than my platform!.where do we get that super dope (only one that can do that) coast ghost saddle at?I just don't have time to answer a coment section brother.or I would....John Holms has videos on how to make love but it prolly won't instill confidence in your own gear.you just say to yourself ...well I can't do that I dont got that.and it does all that.
