Looking at Ohio for out of state since it is “close”. Woodbury, Trivalley or Salt Fork lake.
Any constructive input would be greatly appreciated.

You better make reservations now at a motel. Hunted it for years, it gets pounded. Think outside the box

I started out my Ohio adventure 25 years ago on Salt Fork. I wasn't impressed so I found private land but that was a long time ago. Ohio has gone nuts for getting permission. Used to be able to knock on doors but not so easy these days.
Not sure how Salt Fork is now.

AEP recreation lands and Wayne national forest are good options. If camping both have camp areas. Woodbury is pretty good also but not as big. My experience on these are limited to archery and hunting pressure was minimal on the first two because they are big areas. I hear gun season they see a lot more pressure.

If you’re gun hunting it can be scary at times. Bow hunting you can find places and get away from people but it takes time. Like I said think outside the box. Get creative. There is some great deer there. You and everyone else sees the same “it looks good” places and there will be sign but years of people hunting they are smart. They find those pockets that no one seems to go. It will take a year or two but it’s worth it. All the leased up land has made it tuff. Oh and the Amish shoot EVERYTHING. Be careful driving before daylight. I’ve about taking out horse and carriage and then on bicycles on foggy mornings.
