I have been doing the one stick method for 2 years now and at the beginning of this season i got the EWO ultralite stick. I put a cam cleat on it and drilled a hole through the side of the stick for my rope. I have 6mm Teufelberger prussic rope as my one stick rope. I tied it off two knots on either side of the stick, but tonight when I looked it over, I see that the edge of the hole is cutting though the sheath and will eventually wear though.

Ive seen DIy one stick with the cam cleat and the rope is tied to the stick but it's under the cam cleat, and then when connected to the cam cleat it locks in place. Can someone take a picture or explain what they are using...is it a scafford knot tied off or some other method to tie off the rope to the stick. I do not want to be the next "accident."

Same issue with rope going through the stick so with the help of some suggestions here a went with scaffold knot and no issues.

Have you thought about installing a versa button below the cam cleat? That is what I did, and you can either use a spliced or sewn loop for attachment.

I posed the same question a while back. I actually switched to an OCB strap and a Slotted Squirrel Step on each side. The strap helps keep the stick solid at height too.

Well took out the rope from the hole and tied a scaffold knot...put the loop under the cam cleat and it's back in business. The cut in the sheath are incorporated into the knot.
