So I’ve climbed a lot with my one stick I made with EWO parts and some stuff from the local hardware store and the versa ball mod I made has been working great for me! There’s no signs of wear or stress and it has proven to be extremely easy for one stick climbing. I played around with different Aider a and have landed on this version. I used Ashley stopper knots with the tag ends buried to keep the aider attached to step. Seems to work great as well, I’ve climbed 10 times or so with this aider and 20+ times with the versa ball and haven’t had any issues with either. If you like daisy chains and one sticking this ball might be something to check out. Also, if anyone sees any issues or possible concerns from prior experience with the aider attachment let me know, it works well but i know it’s not a traditional attachment method.

As you can see, really easy to reach down and pop the daisy off.

That’s really cool! Where’d you get that ball?

Stines home and garden. I’ll see if I can find them online again and post a link.

@paxamus

Believe mine the the m8 size, it’s 1.25” and 5/16. They also sell all aluminum knobs on there as well but I’m not concerned with the one I’m using.

I did that last year and was told it was not good. I kept using it and had no problems. The choice is yours.

Thanks, I don’t expect any issues. Did anyone give you any specific reasons why not or just not recommended?

Right on, my bad. I didnt scroll up far enough the on first look. I see general concerns but nothing significant or scientific really lol thanks for sharing. I’m not worried about the Aiders either and will accept the risk.
I’m a “you rig it, you ride it” type guy. At least that’s how I treat parachutes. That being said I would run the set up the way you have.

I used it a few times and did not test it after I found SRT. It could still fail. I don't know. I think your aiders are fine for the same reason I thought mine were fine. People posted about similar attachment methods since and there were no bad comments. I don't know why.
