Can someone please discuss the benefit or not going from a 22” step to step stick compared to a 15 step to step ( mini stick). Both would have 2 step aiders.

I can see weight savings, but I got EWO so I could have the maximum reach between steps for height gain. I see a lot of guys using the mini’s . Perhaps that benefit is depleated ( height gain /step distance) with the effectiveness of one stick with aiders?

I started one sticking this year. Got a 20" EWO stick saying 15 seemed too short. Wish I had gotten the smaller stick. I only use the top step to set my tether and step onto my RoS. I think the smaller size would be easier to maneuver as I move the stick and catch less on the tether.

I wish I was a headlight on a north-bound train

I don't use the top step while climbing, as it puts me too high to reach down to detach my stick. I use a muddy pro.

It depends how high you want your tether and how far you move each time.
I like 20 inches. Why I reach down pull my rope to release the cam cleat. The higher the tether the higher I reach next time
