One Sticking Quick Link Size

I'm one sticking at the moment. Aside from the learning curve and working out my own process, its gone really well. One thing I don't recall ever seeing mentioned is the size of the quick link or delta link folks are using. I'm currently using a delta link that came with a safety harness. Its 8MM. I'm going to purchase a higher quality, climbing rated one to swap it out. When I first got going with this, I used a stainless oval from the hardware store. That one is 10MM but was insanely heavy and wanted to pull the rope down the tree too easily. The one I'm using now is much better because its a bit lighter.

What size is preferred? It appears its between 8MM and 10MM as far as common choices.

Just go right over to Doublesteps.com and Dano will fix you right up. Look under hardware. You'll find what you need and you will be supporting a fellow saddle hunter/small businessman.

I use the kong stainless from EWO, I bet a lot of people here do. It is squeaky though. I like my hardware quick link better but swapped it for strength the other day.

I Second on the squeak. Really loud in the woods. I’m gonna try greasing it.

I like 9 mm delta link. The strength goes up a good bit from 8 mm to 9 mm without the weight going up much. The 10 mm get huge though.

Also, the larger diameter doesn't bend the rope as sharply around it (too tight a bend radius is no good).

I'm all for buying from EWO. Heck, everything but my saddle is from them. lol. I was looking at various climbing rated delta's on Amazon to save spending as much on shipping as the link itself costs. I have a couple other items on amazon that need as well so I was hoping I could buy from there and be done with it for my "odds and ends" order.

2x on shipping from, not thier fault but you gotta buy several things to justify it. I'll try string wax, thanks for that tip

I use an 8mm oval quick link made by Camp that is climb rated to 40kN. Simple chip clip to hold it in place.
