Picture is from a processor near the Allegheny National Forest. Said they took ~220 deer in the first two days then had to start turning people away. Massacre Weekend 2022:

OMG! This reminds me of those nets they bring up on commercial fishing trollers! Except it's not fish, its deer! How have they not been driven extinct up there.

I bet there are not that many deer spread across the 50,000 acres I hunt.

Last year may have been worse...

I did hear the obligatory shot when you can't see your own nose.

Never saw a hunter all day. Nor definitively a buck, maybe a dozen does & a big yote.

My dad had a gun issue and missed a giant.

I've hunted in many states. #bsyouhavetoputupwithinPAisnothinguniquetryTX,lol

I went out for my yearly PA rifle hunt in NE PA game lands. That’s the last time I hunt a Friday during rifle. The morning wasn’t too bad. I hunted a thick bedding area 3/4 of a mile in where I always see deer. Once it got light I realized I was 50 yards from a new ladder stand that someone put up after archery season. Oh well it’s public land. By 10 am I had 3 guys walk in on me and saw no deer. No big deal I wanted an excuse to go on a long hike and scout some new spots. About 2 miles in I came across 2 more guys. Went to another spot I frequent in archery and saw two more guys. I figured I was guaranteed to fill a doe tag, but I found tons of hunter sign in all of the areas that held doe groups all year. It was obvious the place got pounded and the deer were pushed out of the normal areas. Still a fun day out but I’m looking forward to late season.

You guys are just reminding me of why I gave up rifle hunting in PA several years ago. The only way I'd do it now would be to sit in the middle of the thickest, nastiest stuff in the county, with my bow. Most guys won't walk through that stuff.

...but I don't miss it at all. Thanks for bringing back the memories!

I live and hunt in northcentral Pa.I rarely ever see another human on public land. It's far different today than it was 30 years ago.
