Opinions on this platform idea

weld the bottom stand off to the vertical than it will also be the stop for the platform .than you don't need the square stop under the platform.

Ok I got ya. That's what I thought you might be saying. The reason I wanted to weld it to the platform vs the vertical was to get the camming action when locking it down like the predator does.

Got it done today. Overall, I'm really happy with it the way it turned out. However, it doesn't cam over as well as I had hoped. The top keeps wanting to pull off of the tree and my rope mod was coming loose, so I switched to a muddy strap, which seemed to work better. It's definitely lightweight, and is super compact. Just wish it'd lock up tighter on the tree.

Looks pretty dang good! Did you try toe hooking it? Seems like it should be pretty solid.

Maybe?... Not sure what you mean by toe hook lol

Stand on top of the standoff with one foot while picking the platform up with the toe of your other boot then pushing it back down with your weight on the post. Same thing we do with the Predator that really locks it into place.

That's pretty sweet looking! I like how it nests together when folded up. Great idea.
It looks like you should be able to toe hook it to get it tighter to the tree.

It looks really good. The only thing I think I would change is to delete the bolt that you are using to attach your strap to and make something so you can connect your strap to the two footrests closest to the tree. The only reason I say this is that the way you connect it now, the footrest has to be in the down position to connect your straps. That isn't a big deal at 18" off of the ground but at 25+ feet in the dark, it may be a struggle.

@judgerunner so wouldn't that require him to completely add a second strap to his setup? With connection at the footrests what is to be done about the rear post and top standoff which no longer have contact and anchorage to the tree?

@mnol4 My thought was to do something more like what justin.dunn.77377 on this forum did. Attached is a video of what he did. You can ignore the first part of the video where he is talking about his rock climbing harness.
I am new to saddle hunting. While Justing does have a second strap on his (i think primarily due to the fact that he is using a climbing stick), I am not sure it is really needed.

I see what you're saying, but not sure how well it would help. The bottom locks up solid, is just the top part that wants to come off the tree. I'm going to try the toe hook method mentioned above and see if that helps. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you though.

Thanks for all of the compliments. If it ever stops raining here I'm going to play with it some more.

My predator usually had a little gap between the top standoff and the tree. Didn't seem to affect anything though. I wouldn't get too hung up on it.

Move your versa button up 1” at a time until you hit the sweet spot.
