Setting aside the fact I shouldn't be spending money at the moment, I was intrigued by this deal, as I lost "my" vortex binos in the divorce (they are hers for birdwatching, so sit on a shelf full time)... What do we think of this deal on camofire?

I'd hold off. Sportmans still has some gen 1 razor's that go on sale for $799 a lot. If you can pair that up with a code you can get a gen 1 80mm razor for about $700

There are consistently high quality used ones in the forum classifieds that if you’re patient enough and look around a bit you can definitely find as good as or better deal than that. BTW That profound wisdom is a direct reflection of my impatience and spontaneity.

That's a great point. A $1200 piece of used glass will be way better than a $700 piece of new glass 99.9% of the time.

That’s definitely not a bad deal for a good brand new spotter at $500 OP but I have seen some really nice used Razors or Kowa or Mavens for a similar price is all I’m saying. I bought (and sold) a used Kowa last year for a mule deer hunt in SD for under $700. It was really nice glass and I could definitely notice a difference over my diamondback spotter. I personally didn’t notice a difference between my diamondback and a friend’s vipers. I’m rarely using a spotter here in New England at all so I went back to the diamondbacks. Ultimately depends what you’re using it for, where you’ll be using it and how much you’re willing to spend.
I was able to control the spending urges thanks to the reinforcement that it's really not a great deal. thanks all lol!
