Been thinking about ordering some amsteel but just had an idea. Could the buckle not be removed and the strap be tied the same way you'd tie amsteel? Just a thought.

Pretty sure he means wrapped around versa button along with a few half hitches ( just like someone would do with rope/amsteel mod)

Another thread mentioned a video where someone did this with another company’s strap

I haven’t seen the video yet myself

Their is no reason why you couldn't do it,if I'm not mistaken I'm sure someone did with muddy stick!

Tried it today and it works just fine. The only downside is you will lose some strap length compared to using the buckle. I plan on doing it this way, but keeping my buckles in my pack in case I need to get onto a larger tree.
