Overhand on Bite

I see fig 8s. Any reason not to use a single overhand on a bite with either rope or web?

It's used a lot. The Figure 8 on a Bight is probably more commonly used if you have to untie the knot. The overhand on a Bight is a hard knot to untie once you load it.
 
The overhand on a bight holds its tail better than the figure 8 on a bight. Back when I was running a webbing bridge, I marked my knots and got ZERO slippage in the know in 2 full years.

huh... that's a pleasant surprise. Been messing with a web bridge lately and the overhand seemed fine. I was just wondering if I was unaware of something. Likely going back to rope, I'll be watching carefully.
