Just looking for something that I can carry my rope in, my field dressing kit(a few small knives, nitrile gloves and a few gallon freezer bags for tenderloin and heart,a thermos or two. Predator platform will probably ride off a clip on the saddle.

Don't really need anything fancy, just large enough and durable enough to survive the briars I'm constantly in tracking deer

I went with kuiu pro 1850 for the exact same reasons. It's still setup for fishing versus hunting though. I will start converting it to hunting soon. I plan to carry the predator platform off my hip too - I've been practicing my hike to and from my tree in the backyard that way too. I bought the bow sling for my pack and need to test with it.

Walmart has had a pack for the last two years for $10 that is surprisingly good quality. It has no waist strap. I don't see it on Walmart.com now but I did see it in past years. You could spend as much as you want but I sensed your question did not involve a $100 pack.
