Looking at picking up a pack frame only to strap some weight, probably like a dry bag filled with sand, for just hiking around up and down the hills at my home. Can anyone recommend a decent frame that would be comfortable with 25-75lbs of weight? Also I'm a little bit fun sized at 5'2" if that makes a big difference.

Hard to go wrong with a molle frame for this purpose, easy to come by and cheap.

Cheapest way, IMO, is a cabelas outfitter frame.

I have used one regularly carrying 50 plus pounds through the woods. And training hikes.

That said, if you are training to carry a heavy pack, why not just get a high end pack frame / with minimalist bag? I am assuming you are training for hunting. You can always update to a better bag later. And the frame can do double duty for training and hunting.

I have a stone glacier x-curve frame. Kifaru and mystery ranch and others like exo and seek outside have frames.

The SG frame carries up to 150 lbs., way more than I can carry. It matches with different bags for hunting.

Before you lay down money on a pack frame, do some research on Rokslide forum. There is tons of info. on packs, hunting and training.

Good luck in your search.

Molle or Alice frame, you can easily strap plates to them. Have done it more than I’d like to and with upwards of 130lbs (in pack) at certain points, but that was for training or missions and wouldn’t recommend it for fun lol. If you get Alice frame make sure you get the back pad for the center of the frame. I’m 5’6” so not much taller and both are comfortable for me. Both are cheap if you can find a local army surplus store too.

Are you training for anything specific? If so I would just get the pack you plan to use, if for hunting and packing out animals or whatever, that way you learn how to balance the weight and pack it properly. Weight packed the wrong way can make a heavy walk a lot worse.

No, not wanting to pack out animals at this point, but with all the gyms closed looking at doing whatever I can with the limited space and resources I have at home. I have a lot of pretty steep hills and I think a weighted pack will be more comfortable than a 3 year old sitting on my shoulders. Figured I can either strap plates to it, or make up a few dry bags filled with sand in various weights. I can do the hills, push ups, squats. I don't have room in my house for any workout equipment besides a few dumbbells or kettlebells. Plus from the looks of those packs it might be useful to pack some treestands into some areas for my father and I. Thanks everyone. Any other suggestions on exercises or equipment that is cheap and does take up much space feel free to send them my way. Stay healthy everyone.

Military duffel bag, fill it with 100lb bag of corn and tie it off the cut. Works good and smokes you for Turkish get ups. Thick rope on a tree to climb and if you got a good branch a set of adjustable rings. Little backyard work out action.

The Army/Navy stores usually have surplus ruck sacks. aluminum frame on the old ones and most of the time, inexpensive

The duffle is a good idea. I actually have a couple of those laying around. I might have start a little lighter than 100# though. HAHA
