Man the Grillon looks perfect for how we use things. However I only see it sold with the rope & different connection options. Does petzl not sell just the grillon by itself anywhere?

Them openly stating it can be hands free is awesome. Personally I think it work exactly the same as the MR safeguard but could be wrong.

Does anyone know any details on it. Is it able to be removed & added to other ropes? Is there any way to buy just the grillon by itself?

To the best of my knowledge it is not sold by itself, possibly to keep it in the "working at heights" arena and away from recreational use??? The price point sure does. I use them for work and they function just like a Grigri however they are locked for descent unless you are pulling the handle. They are removable from the lanyards by way of a single screw. I have seen used ones for sale used on FB Marketplace before.

I was thinking it was screwed on. Do you think I could run the tag end of the rappel rope through it, without having to unscrew it? Might grab on if I see a deal on one without the rope.

Any chance you remember how much they may go for on market?

Hey thanks for letting me know about it. If they were switchable between ropes, like the grigri or madrock, it would be perfect for what we do. At least it appears to be.

Thanks again.

It might be kind of tricky to try and just feed a rope through it because of the cam but maybe??? I don't see why leaving the screw out would have any bearing on it's operations, it's still locked closed when a biner is installed, just like a Grigri. I'd bet that it's more because of a it's part of a working at heights use positioning lanyard and not a recreational use device so they make it dummy proof for liability. Watch Petzl Professional's YT channel video on "HOW TO - Inspecting the Petzl GRILLON Adjustable Lanyard" at about the 4:19 mark and you can see how easily removable it it. I just looked on Marketplace and there's a black one for $115 and a gold one for $100.

Thanks for highlighting that video. Exactly what I needed to see
