Petzl Stop, or rig???

I have a rig on the way. I am aiming to use it for SRTing on larger rope. I agree that it’s the type of device that actually fits the bill, although have yet to experience any issues using the safeguard or other belay devices.

The rig is a pile o cash, for sure though. The GRIGRI + is what Im leaning towards right now. Reported to be smooth, and an anti panic feature. Still- its designed as a Belay. The rig is a descender and rigging device. Thats kinda what were are doing.

Yes it is. I just really want to try one. Most folks are going to be knocked off the the rig because of the 10mm minimum but I’m going to SRT on 11mm rope with it snd see how I like it compared to my current lighter, albeit out of spec, setup.

I've had a petzl rig for 3 years and it is a good tool, made for heavier climbing line, 11mm works flawless, 10mm it will slip some if there is no
tension, under a little tension it doesn't slip, locks up and works fine once it catches with the 10mm, I don't think it is advised for that size
with 11mm it is very easy to tend and repel with and you can lock it up when set at desired height.
