Guys, I know I'm not the first to think of this. so who has tried it and why did it not work? Just trying to find a use for some parts/pieces. Thanks.

That puts a lot of extra stress on the bolt. There was a thread about it on the beast once. I forget if they ran the numbers but it’s iffy. Be careful.

Thanks, just what I wanted to hear. I'm sure Garrett probably ran the numbers back then. I'm good with DanO's Doublesteps, was just thinking of the spare parts I have laying around. I'll stick with safety!!
 
just upgrade the bolt to 5/16. I don't see why it wouldn't work. a grade 8 bolt can take a lot of stress.
 
I think I was more worried about bolt hole deformation on their bottom (stopper) bolt.
maybe im missing something but I don't see how it will make any difference. even in stock form with one step your still putting all your weight on that area.
 
I tried it awhile back on the top of one post and it actually twists the post so much I was scared it was gonna break. All I needed to see to give up on it.

Leverage. You would be putting significantly more force on all of the components with the longer lever.

Yes sir, I agree. I was just thinking that somebody must've done this before, and maybe found a reason not to do it. I learn something
