Planning first out of state hunt

I live in SOMO and let me tell you if you're gonna try and plan for one weather type and not prepare for everything mother nature can throw at you then you will probably end up miserable.. The weather changes here very rapidly, I have seen temps in the single digits and also in the high 60's.. Rain and snow, and tornados. Make sure to have good rain gear and base layers. As for camping during all this I tent camp the entire rifle season here in MO we use a 16'x16' tent with a wood stove, so I don't think I will be much help in that category lol
I appreciate the info. I'll definitely come prepared for anything

Please do lol I'd hate for you to drive all this way and be miserable lol If you need anything else shoot me a PM and I will try and help anyway I can. Not a whole lot of info on public land but might be able to steer you into the right direction

Im honestly looking to find some quality hunting clothing. I know everyone says Sitka or first lite but I don't really know which clothing lines would be right for what weather, etc.. I've always just done cheap camo or some lower end under armour stuff.

Layering is very important for staying warm IMO. I live in NY and it can be cold in early November. You need clothing that wicks moisture away from your body, because once you get damp you are done unless you van dry off. Wool is a good material, and also moisture wicking long johns and long sleeve shirts.
You have to start from the inside out.

First lite. Sitka is very expensive. I didn't believe the hype until I bought the gear and realized how comfortable it was

I have thin merino wool base layers, then wear scent lok heavy base on top of that, then I wear my bibs or whatever on top. As long as you don't ramp up you core temp walking in and get sweaty then you can wear less layers. I also am a big fan of getting cold before I put more layers on, I feel like if you put on all your layers at once then you cant get anywarmer once the chill is set in

I bought the solitude jacket, but its 88 degrees here in FL so I wont find out if I like it until i'm in MO in November, I was going by reviews/price
This is one of the reasons I'm considering the solitude set over the sanctuary. I believe ill be able to get more use out of the solitude at home as well as out of state.

I have no experience with first lite. My wooltimate gear gets me into the low 30s/high 20s with good heavy layers and can use up to mid 40s or so with a light layer. My buddy likes his Sitka fanatic gear, working well for him in similar temps with similar layers. I snagged a used pair of the original grey wolf woolens with wolf skin, got from a guy in Illinois that said he used it to the single digits. Hard to give it a test run in Florida, so gotta wait and see how it performs when I get up north. Also have the predator micro fleece and G2 set for slightly warmer temps. Be ready for multiple temps that time of year in that area. Got to like 25 degrees in the last week of October a couple years ago, or it’ll be 70...

Kansas guys - how predictable is rut timing? In Ga it seems like rut activity has large window and starts at different times each year, depending elevation and North vs South. But I've read in colder states it happens at the same exact days every year.

It’s consistent, where I hunt you can count on seeing a good bit of chasing starting the 6-8th, more seeking or smaller bucks chasing a little the week prior. They say peak breeding is nov. 15th and that’s about right based on activity we see. We’re hunting the 8-20 this year to catch both sides of the prime breeding time

Set your clock on mid November. I had a coworker that just retired that always took the 12th through 19th off. That’s when decent bucks are moving here in Kansas.
