Plastic dip squirrel steps

I tried the Camo form tape. Didn’t last long... might try stealth strips or truck bed liner.

there is no texture to plastidip so they might squeak.

I plasti-dipped mine. Tore up real quick on the step portion but holding up well enough on the parts that touch that it helps damped the noise

I sprayed one of mine with truck bed liner. All-in-all I'd say it turned out pretty well. Nothing bad to say about the product. However, I was impatient and applied it in 45 degree weather. It took dern near FOREVER for three coats of the stuff to dry. I'll be doing the rest of mine this spring.

Maybe try grip tape. I use it on my bolts. Works well for the most part

Vet tape. I’m going on 10 hunts, and I’ll probably retape after the next one.

It costs about 3.00 for the amount I used. It takes about 45 seconds to do each step(5).

To have completely silent ROS, it costs me at most 9.00 and 15-20 minutes each season, if we’re counting.

Simple

Weird that I'm having this conversation with another guy right now. And I've never rewrapped my ROS. Hunted on it all last year and some this year. Maybe I bought a good batch of tape.

I could get by a few more. But it’s starting to rub a few holes. I don’t want to cut all the way through on one while I’m out there and take a chance. Hell I could probably get by 10 more. But it takes such little effort to start fresh.

I use vet tape as well. It wears for me pretty quickly too. I guess it probably depends on the type of trees. Nevertheless, it does quiet them down, and is cheap, and easy to apply and re-apply.

I am going to try stealth stripping some of the step. Atleast where my boots touch. They squeak.... but then again I know the stealth strips will wear and then I will have to deal with a very sticky headache. Maybe spraying them is the best option.

I’ve tried both vet tape and stealth strips, both lasted about 10 hunts before I was wanting to redo it. I’ve since gone to a double layer of tape system. I wrap each step with the vet tape then cover over that with hockey tape. The hockey tape holds up great but gotta add the vet tape underneath first to get them completely silent. That combination has been best by far for me, I’d envision it lasting a couple seasons now.

I use a combination of vet wrap on the step then go over that with hockey stick tape. Works well and is fairly easy to cut off. I have rewrapped 2 steps this season.
